The Joust is a personal passion project inspired by my long-standing interest in the Fighting Game Community (FGC). As a dedicated spectator of Melee tournaments, I admired the competitive scene but found the game's technicality too daunting to pursue seriously at this stage. When Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released, I saw an opportunity to get involved. Eager to compete and contribute to the growth of a new local scene, I began actively participating in tournaments and running local events at Comic Kung Fu in Winchester, VA, since the game’s release.
In the early stages, I focused on branding and promoting the local scene to help it flourish from the grassroots level. Alongside a group of passionate friends who assist in managing the Winchester events, we decided to expand our efforts and create a second local tournament scene in Martinsburg. Through outreach to my former trade school, I was able to secure a venue for a one-off fundraising tournament. This event received generous sponsorship from my amazing teammates at the time, Reborn Knights.
This section of my portfolio is a collective representation of the many people who have contributed to the success of these tournaments. While my role is just one part of the larger picture, I’m proud to showcase the collaborative effort that made these events possible.
Huge Thanks to all of these wonderful people!
